INFLUENCE IN MUSIC ON SOCIETY

How does music influence us ?
Recently in class we were having a speech presentation on three topics which where given but mostly my fellow student presented on the issue that “should condoms be contributed to our high school pupils”. Most of them agreed as they mention that we as the youth of nowadays are exposed to a lot of things like:
·         Social media which teach us about different issues that we fail to have explanations from our parents because social media does have facts on them.
·         The media which expose issues on sex, money and alcohol which as the youth adapt to, to look like them.
·         And the most surprisingly influential tool music which the youth listen to for example songs like sexual seduction by snoop doggy
some of the rappers that influenced in alcohol, sex,
drugs and money source: Culies Finest Rappers
One in three popular songs contains explicit references to sex, drug or alcohol use, according to a new report in The Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. That means kids are receiving about 35 references to substance abuse for every hour of music they listen to according to this research.
Studies have long shown that media messages have a pronounced impact on childhood risk behaviours. Exposure to images of smoking in movies influences a child’s risk for picking up the habit. Alcohol use in movies and promotions is also linked to actual alcohol use. more on the influence of music.
“Adolescents are heavily exposed to lyrics describing degrading sex in popular music, and this exposure is associated with early sexual experience among them in an urban population of youth at high risk for risky sexual behaviour.

These results provide further support for the need for additional research and educational intervention in this area” quote by Brian A. Primack
This means that we don’t have control on the social media, music and other media influence on the youth of today, so I think it is better to teach them on these issues before they adapt to them in the social media or music. We as organisation or companies especial industries that allow such music to be release, we need to make sure that we support campaigns like rap-it-up that have educational system for the youth.

ONLINE MEDIA VS PRINT MEDIA

Are we adapting to social media that we forget about print media

Print media nowadays seem to be buried away source:link this
The world nowadays is changing and with change there is great disadvantages, nowadays online media is seen as not useful to the people because technology has introduced access to the media news that is available in the print media. The change in this media can really create loss of jobs for employees.

Music industries and other organisation are adapting the technology and social media, this causes many debate if online media will replace the print media and does this mean that the print media is useless or are they not used by organisations, if press releases are not also used to create exposure for your organisation or artist will online media or social media do that?

Some few online media and print media

  • Newspapers vs online news
  • Press release vs Twitter
  • Photojournals vs Facebook photos
  •
With the question asked I think the reason why social media has been used is because as technology is being introduced in organisations it creates an interactive communication that can be analysed in no time. By using technology means that we are being proactive and effective by adapting and not perishing. But I recommend that organisations should use both media because even though new media is being adapted other audience or stakeholders still prefer to have the hardcopy.

PUBLIC RELATION IS IMPORTANT IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY

what Public Relations can do
Music has been of the essence in the world as it is nowadays a great source to send out messages, educate and inform. Music has the power to bring people together as a unity, but good musicians even lyricists needs Public Relation (PR) to help them into the Music world.
Public relation is the professional maintenance of a favourable public image by an organisation or a famous person  more on PR, PR plays a more significant role than people can realise.  PR department, campaign or teams are known for their publicity which can generate value and dominate the media by creating, building good image and managing perceptions. PR campaigns distribute media or press releases which are published in different media sources and public relation practitioners have a relationship with the media sources they can help musicians to have a breakthrough in the music world by the use of free publicity they get.

Fans can't keep wanting more of the beautiful Beyoncé
and Kanye West 's lives source:rap-up.com
 Looking at few musicians like:
  •    Beyoncé Knowles
  •    Kanye West
  •    Jay-Z
  •     Lady Gaga
  •     Rhinna
  •     Chris brown

But let’s look at Beyoncé Knowles and Kanye West  I could say they have a good PR campaign to have such PR exposure .They both have broken through in the music world, they have good images and they keep being on the celebrity gossips magazines and shows because their PR campaigns develops their relation by creating media exposure for them. Both musicians interest their fans as their fans want to know more and more about them. Having a PR campaign can do wondrous for musicians as it can create a good image for them, looking at Chris Brown he had a bad image when he abused his girlfriend Rihanna but because he has  PR behind him we keep wanting to know more no matter what he has done.
